MALADICTION LONGBOARDERS AGM 19/7/2003

FLINDERS HALL.

The 2003 AGM was relatively short & those attending enjoyed free beer & cheap raffle tickets. President Mal Stafford thanked the outgoing Committee for a great years service. Special thanks to Robyn Long, Caroline Brew, Jacqui Waterfall & Graeme Burgan & the Sponsor, Friedman Flyers, Xisle, Sea Level, Balin, Trigger Bros, Mordy Surf Centre, Murray Whitelaw, Ocean & Earth, Golden Breed, Surfing Victoria, Surfcoast Longboarders, VicHealth, Parks Victoria, Phillip Island Nature Reserve, Flinders Hotel & Gunnamatta SLSC. He congratulated members on maintaining the enthusiasm & passion that sees the Club in a fresh & strong position 6 years after its inception in 1997. Again Club members were successful in the State Rounds & a large number made the State Team. He also acknowledged the work of Andy “Bundy Bear” Long who retires after 3 years as Secretary/Treasurer. Bundy presented the Clubs Financial Statement that shows we made more money than last year & spent more too. Peter Brew reported the Social Committee had another successful year. Plans were underway for an enclosed trailer to store equipment, so Committee members could rotate duties. Steve King’s Equipment Report noted new gear included shade tent, battery charger for comp lights & trophy labeler. Looking at selling generator & purchasing a smaller model that’s lighter. Plans also to sell original caravan. The following crew were elected to the 2003-2004 Committee, Pres-Mal Stafford, Vice Pres & Merchandise – Jon Naughton, Equipment – Steve King, News – Andy Long, Head Judge – Shane Waterfall, Social – “Big Kev” Hunter & Mark Warhurst. Persons interested in Sec/Treasurer roll to contact Mal Stafford. The meeting agreed to;

 run Supa Groms Division instead of Cadets to encourage Juniors to surf in the Open division.

Clubs Fee structure to remain the same.

Committee to discuss time & venue for a Club social Weekend at either Wilsons Prom or Inverloch.

With all the free beer gone, it was time to eat & dance our way through the Presso.

P.S. I’m only joking about the free beer & cheap raffle tickets. Maybe next year!

The Presso 2003

Great family roll up for the Presso at Flinders Hall with special thanks to the Decorating Committee.  (Kingy’s still talking funny after to much balloon gas). Lotsa comments on the brilliant mural painted by Mick Marchants displayed on an old mal supplied by Phil Trigger & Jack Triep’s trophy display.  The St Andrew’s BlackShirts (Black pants, black hair, black everything, -No floral shirts for these Rockers) arrived late & nearly miss the food. Plenty of dancers up with Timmy Stout provided music with help from Peter Stafford on harp. Plenty of raffle prizes including Longboarder jackets & other sponsors donations. Aggregate Winners; Open - Steve King, Reppas – Andy Carter, O/45’s - Peter Brew, Old Mal – Steve King, Juniors – Andy Warhurst, Cadets – Steve Thorne   (on a c/b from Nick Myers)  Felicity McKendrick won Best Female & Brewies Predator Trophy, Mal McCulloch is Gonadman 2003, Junior Development Award to Sam Dunton & little brother Tas Dunton took home Cadet Development Award. Special Presentations for club Services to Graeme Burgan, Peter Brew & Andy “Bundy Bear” Long. Glen Emslie receives thanked for services to Victorian Lonboarding. Sponsors Trophies were awarded to Golden Breed, Ocean & Earth, Mordy Surf Centre, Muzza Whitelaw, Xilse, Friedman Fliers, Balin & Trigger Bros. Mrs Bear won the major raffle prize of a new custom Trigger Bros board with shaping supplied by Tony Reid & fins by Slim Fins. Rumors has it she’s ordered a 9’ retro kneeboard! So now it starts again, good luck to all for 2004.

Saturday 1st July 2001 - Presentation Night 

The presentation night was sensational. All of the attendees refrained from drinking any alcohol due to the fact they were in training for the early surf on Sunday morning. Bundy only drank Coke, Brewey was restricted to water. He was heard to say "I find water a much more cleansing tonic than that horrible beer". See Photo Album
